A misfit for Newcastle United during a miserable spell in England, Jon Dahl Tomasson is having the last laugh after relaunching his career in the Netherlands with Feyenoord.
His goals propelled the Dutch club into the UEFA Cup final this season, and have all but guaranteed him a move to the rich pastures of Serie A next year, with AC Milan reported to have clinched his signature.
Usually used in a withdrawn role by Denmark coach Morten Olsen, Tomasson is a crucial figure in Denmark's World Cup plans and contributed five goals to the Danes' qualifying campaign.
Unable to find the net for Newcastle, Tomasson blamed his problems at St James Park on being played out of position as an orthodox centre-forward.
Now at the top of his game, Tomasson has the ability to trouble the meanest of defences at the World Cup.
